Dr Joseph Britto has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Gibraltar Police Authority (GPA) replacing Mr John Goncalves.
“First and foremost, I would like to thank John Goncalves for his 5 years at the helm of the Gibraltar Police Authority. As with everything John does, his dedicated and wise leadership has been decisive in the Authority’s strategic assurance and progression of Gibraltarian Policing. I, and no doubt the rest of Gibraltar, are most grateful to John for yet another vital contribution to our Community,” said His Excellency the Governor, Lieutenant General Edward Davis CB CBE KStJ. “Looking forward, I am delighted that Joseph Britto is taking over from John. Joseph’s record of success in Public Service underscores his compelling credentials for this important leadership role. Working hand-in-glove with the Chief Minister, the Commissioner of Police and myself, I have no doubt that Joseph’s impact on the effectiveness and efficiency of Gibraltarian Policing, as it continues to evolve to meet the challenges of 21st century Policing, will be a most positive one,” he added.
Dr Britto said,” I am truly humbled at the faith and trust that has been placed in me and I am grateful for being afforded the opportunity of continuing to serve our community in this way."
